Welcome to my blog! After many months of being nagged to get a blog, I decided today that I like the idea of being able to say what I want to say, but not have to listen to the other end giving me their feedback...so, I have a blog! I can't promise how often I will actually log in and write, but I might surprise you (and myself!) :)
I have alot of thoughts that I want to write about, but I will try to spread them out in many blogs instead of starting with an overwhelmingly long beginning.
Last week, myself and 7 other members of our church- Camden Crossroad Community Church (http://www.camdencrossroads.com/) went to New Orleans, LA for a missions trip. We worked with EFCA Crisis Response who has been helping to rebuild partially or completely destroyed homes since the 2004 Hurricane Katrina. I was very surprised at how many people are still living in FEMA trailers or have not returned to N.O after the storm. :( It was sad and humbling all at the same time...but yet Ms. Brenda, the homeowner that we were working with, and her family have provided food to others in their community who had nothing to eat. I was so moved by the positive attitudes of people in the community who have lost so much but continue to give to others. It makes me frustrated to think that those of us who have never lost our home, live with all of our immediate family (none have gotten sent to other rescue sites with no communication of where they are being taken), have jobs and plenty of materialistic things....complain so much and can be so negative about life! Who do we think we are?? I'm not saying I'm perfect and that I never complain...I'm probably the biggest culprit here, but we really need to evaluate who we are and who we rely on to provide for our needs. The Lord says He will never leave us nor forsake us. Do we believe that? Do we show it? Makes me think.
More thoughts to come.
